August was an exciting month for Behind the Wheel Instructor Jonathan H. “Hop” in Columbia, South Carolina. It started when he won his Area’s first-ever Driver of the Month! Following that, after being nominated by three colleagues, Hop was awarded a Q2 VIP Award in recognition of his commitment to Republic Services and his customers, and to close out this hat trick, he won his local ROAD-EO in the Small Container category.
With 36 years of experience, Hop has some sage words of advice for those just starting out in the industry. “Safety is the number one thing to remember. Be safe, above and beyond anything else you do, and the rest will come with time.”
And as far as his favorite part of his job – it’s the people! “My favorite part about the job is the people I work with every day, and the customers I have gotten to know over the years on my route.”
