Workplace Safety and Security Best Practices

At Republic Services, safety is our top priority. This month’s Cyber Safety Campaign is focused on workplace safety and security – both physical and digital. Workplace threats are getting more and more sophisticated and complex, and we must be able to proactively anticipate threats – ranging from property theft to cyberattacks – to avoid them and ensure the safety and security of our people, assets and information.

Below are some workplace security best practices to keep your workplace safe.

  • Please wear your ID badge in plain sight.
  • If you see someone you don’t recognize, politely introduce yourself and ask to see their badge.
  • Practice good situational awareness. Be mindful when walking and limit distractions such as reading emails or text messages.
  • If you see something suspicious, please report it to the Republic Services Operations Center (RSOC) at 866-RSG-RSOC or rsoc@republicservices.com. Call 911 when appropriate before calling the RSOC.

WHEN TO CONTACT THE RSOC

  • Burglaries, thefts, fraud, property damage, etc.
  • Workplace violence/assault/personal threats
  • Need for security or off-duty police
  • Business Continuity support
  • Fire incidents (post 911 call)
  • Security camera issues (damage, non-functional)

ADDITIONAL BEST PRACTICES FOR HQ EMPLOYEES

  • Enter and exit through the front doors of HQ.
  • Please escort your visitors. Security will gladly provide escorts to/from your vehicle upon request.
  • If you see something suspicious, please report it to HQ Security.
  • Don’t allow others to tailgate you through the turnstiles, doors, or onto the elevator. Every employee should scan their badge.

Thank you for doing your part to keep your workplace safe and secure!
