Tuttle Elementary School Collects 28,000 Plastic Bags

[/av_textblock] [av_textblock size='16' font_color='' color='' av-medium-font-size='' av-small-font-size='' av-mini-font-size='' admin_preview_bg=''] Thanks to our Oklahoma City team members Crystal B., Manager, Municipal Services, and Jay H., General Manager, Hauling, for leading Tuttle Elementary School’s recycling contest to teach students that plastic bags do not belong in recycling containers. The school collected 28,000 plastic bags in just 8 days!

The first graders won the contest by collecting 5,125 plastic bags. They received a $100 gift card, pizza party and a recycling certificate.

Crystal has led this contest in other schools, but this has been the most successful one yet. “The overwhelming response to the contest has set a new mark for other schools,” Crystal said. “We are looking forward to several more programs to educate kids on recycling.”

Tuttle Elementary School is looking into donating the plastic bags to a group that crochets them into sleeping mats for the homeless.
