The Technical Institute’s Commitment To Our Maintenance Teams

During Maintenance Awareness Month, we have highlighted the skills and tools that help our maintenance teams succeed. This week, we want to acknowledge a crucial part of our commitment to developing our skilled workforce: The Technical Institute in Dallas, TX. The Technical Institute offers comprehensive apprenticeships and continuing education programs to attract and nurture top-tier talent within our organization.

About the Apprenticeship Program

The 4,000-hour Apprenticeship Program is intended for new and internal talent looking to change career paths and prepares students to become technicians in fields such as heavy equipment, marine machinery and diesel machinery. Subsidized housing is offered for those living more than 50 miles from the institute, for a weekly fee. It includes fully furnished shared accommodations, all utilities, and transportation to and from work.

The Apprentice Program is also VA-certified, allowing eligible Veterans to access educational benefits. To apply for the Apprenticeship Program, visit our Republic Services career page and search for “Technician Apprentice”.

Continued Development Program

For those who are already part of our workforce, the Continued Development Programs offer specialized courses that are typically around 4 to 5 days long. The available areas of development are hydraulics, electrical systems, EV safety, engine management, air conditioning and brakes. Even though these courses are primarily useful to our Diesel Technicians, they can also be incredibly useful in the development of our Maintenance Managers and Parts Clerks.

Republic Services is Committed to Serve not just our communities but also our valued maintenance teams. These extensive programs are our commitment to providing opportunities for our current workforce to enhance their skills and for those changing career paths to feel confident in their new role.
