At Republic Services, protecting the information of our customers and employees is very important to us. In celebration of Data Privacy Day on January 28, we’d like to share a few facts about data privacy.
What is privacy?
Information privacy is the right to control how your personal information is collected and used. Personal information is often referred to as Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and includes information such as your name, address and Social Security Number.
Why is privacy important to Republic?
There are many laws that tell companies how to use personal data. It is important that companies comply with these laws in order to enhance consumer trust, assist with business operations, and to make sure we are following the law. These laws are also important for customers – in some states, these laws allow customers to exercise their individual rights and to control their data. Keeping customer and employee data safe is a top priority at Republic Services.
What policies does Republic have in place relating to data protection and privacy?
- Republic’s ‘Safeguarding Customer Confidential Information’ policy outlines ways in which the company pledges to protect customer information.
- Republic also has a responsibility to protect the personal information of its employees. That policy is outlined in the ‘Safeguarding Employee Confidential Information’ policy.
Who can I contact if I have questions about privacy at Republic?
