Spotlight on Maintenance Team in Vidalia, GA


Last month, we celebrated Maintenance Awareness Month to celebrate our technicians and recognize our Top Shops across the country. To continue to celebration, Operations Manager Amie V. spent some time with Technicians Jason J., Shown L., Dustin G. and Eric C. to give us a glimpse of what it’s like to maintain our fleet of trucks and heavy equipment.

Jason J., Maintenance Supervisor

Jason has been with Republic Services for 12 years. Prior to joining Republic, Jason served as a Bradley Mechanic in the U.S. Army and Marine Corp. He was also the Shop Supervisor for 8 years at DOT Foods. “Jason is very kind, understanding and easy to talk to when we have something we need help with.” Amie says.

Q. What do most people not know about being a Maintenance Supervisor?
A. Just how much we care about our drivers and want to help them.

Q. What do you like best about Republic Services?
A. I believe we are truly a family friendly company.


Shawn L., Maintenance Technician

Shawn also has 12 years of dedicated service. Before Republic Services, he was a Union Welder – Iron Worker. He enjoys working early shift, so he can get off early in the day. “Shawn is a jack-of-all-trades. His knowledge of the industry and equipment makes him essential to our team,” Amie says.

Q. What do most people not know about being a Maintenance Technician?
A. How dirty you get working on the equipment.

Dustin G., Maintenance Technician

Dustin started at Republic Services 2 year ago. Prior to Republic, he was an auto mechanic at a car dealership. He enjoys gaining experience working on commercial vehicles. “Dustin always has a positive attitude and is eager to help. He works hard at learning new things which allows him to excel and grow his talent,” Amie says.

Q. What do most people not know about being a Maintenance Technician?
A. How challenging it can be to diagnose problems on a garbage truck.

Q. What do you like best about Republic Services?
A. Our team works well together.


Eric C., Lead Technician

Eric started at Republic Services 8 years ago. He also runs a photography business with his wife. “Eric is a good communicator and keeps Operations up to speed on truck items that might affect our scheduled routes.” Amie says.

Q. What do most people not know about being a Maintenance Technician?
A. Techs work closely with Operations. For example, I recently assisted with a post-trip inspection to ensure a driver didn’t go over his hours.

Q. What do you like best about Republic Services?
A. Working hard to prepare a college fund for my daughter.
