Ginger N., Manager of CRM Effectiveness, recently took a ride inside the cab of a small container truck alongside Driver Jose S. Here’s a glimpse into what this experience was like for Ginger and what she learned from being in the passenger seat of a Republic Services truck.
Her day started at 3 a.m. as she arrived at the Cave Creek Transfer Station in the dark. After a safety meeting first-thing, she and Jose buckled up and hit the road. With an average of 140 to 180 stops a day, and three return trips to the Transfer Station to drop off the loads of trash collected, efficiency is key. “I didn’t realize how physically demanding this job was. Jose was constantly in and out of the truck all day,” Ginger observed. “Also, our frontline is focused on safety all day. From safety meetings to getting in and out of the truck, to monitoring their load contents, it’s easy to see that safety is priority No. 1.” As a new employee, starting just two months ago, Ginger says that there is nothing like experiencing the frontline. “It keeps everything I do in perspective,” Ginger says.
Thank you to Ginger for sharing her unique experience of being on the road with Driver Jose!
