Roosevelt Regional Landfill Employees Fight Explosive Wildfire

Our team at Roosevelt are heroes after protecting not only our Republic Services facilities, but also several homes in Klickitat County during a wildfire that broke out on Friday, July 21, and continued into Saturday morning. The crew worked well beyond their normal shift to run bulldozers and water trucks as the fire burned 30,000 acres of land in Southern Washington in less than 24 hours.

“The crew from the landfill deserve a kudos for helping not only protect the landfill, but also nearby homesteads. They are not trained firefighters and most of them have never dealt with a situation like this before, but they stuck it out and did what they could to help. These employees deserve our gratitude. Job well done!” – Community member Facebook post
