Republic Team Partners with Rebuilding Together Houston

As part of the National Neighborhood Promise program funded by the Republic Services Charitable Foundation, we are pleased to partner with Rebuilding Together Houston provide critical repairs to SHAPE Community Center in the Third Ward. SHAPE Community Center is focused on improving the quality of life for people of African descent (all people) through programs and activities, with emphasis on Unity, Self-Determination, Collective Work & Responsibility, Cooperative Economics, Purpose, Creativity and Faith.

Republic Services volunteers participated in a day of service to revitalize the community gardens at SHAPE as well as the Alabama Gardens. Volunteers also participated in a community clean up and beautification efforts in the nearby area. In addition to garden revitalization, the National Neighborhood Promise grant also supported critical repairs including roof replacement and sewer line repairs to bring plumbing up to code.

“Being with over 100 of my counterparts, all dedicating their own time to the community, was an experience that will stay with me for a long time. I feel incredibly fortunate to work for a company that not only provides vital environmental services but also gives back to the communities we serve. It’s an honor to work alongside so many excellent people who truly make a difference,” said Cody H., General Manager, Republic Services of Houston.
“Even though Safe and Healthy housing is our number one priority, we will take every opportunity to uplift the community of Third Ward. So many of the families we serve have supported SHAPE Community Center or have benefited from their services. Through this amazing partnership with Republic Services, we can ensure the future of this vital organization in the community for many years to come,” said Christine H., CEO, Rebuilding Together Houston.
