Earlier this month, employees showed up for a second day of volunteering at the Far North Bicentennial Park, the largest park in Anchorage! Volunteers worked on improving the Moose Ridge Loop trail to make it safer for bikers and hikers.
Before the day’s work began, General Manager Matt M. and community leaders including Anchorage Mayor Suzanne LaFrance, Deputy City Manager Marc Spafford, and Director of Solid Waste Services Kelli Toth attended the morning kick-off meeting to not only thank volunteers for their time spent improving the trails, but also to thank the Republic Services Charitable Foundation for its $100,000 National Neighborhood Promise grant.
“Witnessing the immediate impact of the NNP grant on our local trails and hearing firsthand appreciation from trail users was incredibly rewarding. This event not only deepened our appreciation for Alaska Trails and their ongoing efforts to maintain safe, accessible hiking paths but also gave us a meaningful opportunity to demonstrate that Republic Services is genuinely committed to improving our communities.” — Zach H., Operations Manager
