Republic Services for the Recycling Win at the Final Four

This April, Republic Services teamed up with Coca-Cola Consolidated to make recycling part of the fan experience at the men’s Final Four in Indianapolis.

At Lucas Oil Stadium, fans recycled plastic beverage bottles throughout the tournament. Those bottles were sorted at our 96th Street Recycling Center then processed at the Indianapolis Polymer Center, where they’re ready to be turned back into new beverage bottles.

The recycling effort went beyond the stadium. From the Tipoff Tailgate to Fan Fest at the Convention Center, fans across Indianapolis helped make sustainability part of the game.

For our teams, this is what it looks like to bring recycling to life. Whether it’s supporting a major event or servicing customers in your local community, the goal is the same: make recycling easy, reduce contamination and keep valuable materials in use.

Recycling Tips to Remember

Big events like the Final Four are a great reminder that recycling makes a difference. The same habits that worked in the stadium matter just as much at home and on the go.

  • Keep it empty, clean and dry. Food and liquid can contaminate other recyclables.
  • No plastic bags in the bin. Bagged recyclables don’t get sorted properly.
  • Recycle bottles, cans and paper. When in doubt, stick to the basics.

Every item recycled the right way supports the work our teams do every day and helps us better serve the communities where we live and work.
