Republic Services Engages Future Skilled Employees at SkillsUSA TECHSPO

SkillsUSA TECHSPO is the largest technical education trade show in the nation, and it’s held during SkillsUSA’s annual National Leadership & Skills Conference (NLSC). SkillsUSA competitions progress from local and regional levels to state competitions, with state winners advancing to the NLSC. SkillsUSA offers competitions related to Automotive, Diesel Equipment Technology, and Heavy Equipment Operation.

In the Diesel Equipment Technology category, competitors demonstrate skills in hydraulic systems, vehicle inspections, fundamental failure analysis, brake systems, air-conditioning systems, and general shop skills. Competitors also perform a job interview and complete a written test.

The Heavy Equipment Operation competition evaluated each contestant’s preparation for employment and recognized outstanding students for excellence and professionalism in the field of heavy equipment operation.
