Event Kicks off Toys for Tots Season in Wilsonville, OR

In preparation for the upcoming holiday season, the transfer station in Wilsonville, Oregon (WRI) took it upon themselves to help ensure that every child in their community receives a gift from Santa this year. In support of Toys for Tots, they organized their first-ever bulk waste event combined with a Toys for Tots collection drive.

Not only did 20 of the transfer station’s leadership team step up and dedicate their time to this cause, but they were also joined by five soldiers from their community. The event was a huge success, with over 200 brand-new toys dropped off, in addition to a large cash donation. “We had a blast and most importantly a bunch a kids will have a gift from Santa who might not otherwise have one,” said Cindy R., Municipal Sales Manager.

In addition to the incredible support for Toys for Tots, the transfer station also received an impressive amount of bulk trash. A total of 155 cars from Wilsonville, Tualatin and Lake Oswego brought in a staggering 16 tons of trash.

Thanks to the efforts of WRI, the holiday season is sure to be a little brighter for children in their community. This is truly a demonstration of living our values of Environmentally Responsible, Human-Centered and Committed to Serve!
