Republic Awarded Charleston County Recycling Contract

As one of the largest contracts secured by Republic Services last year, the North Charleston, SC Hauling Division is one week away from going live with its privatization of the Charleston County Recycling contract on June 6. Currently managed in-house by the County, Republic was the winning bidder out of a number of local competitors. Woot woot!

“This recycling contract goes a long way for us to help support sustainability practices in the Charleston County area for years to come. There have been countless hours of preparation over the last 8 months by the local leadership and we look forward to a successful transition!” said Jay D., General Manager.

The team recently held an orientation for individuals who will be transitioning from Charleston County to Republic Services to support the contract. “The ‘employees-to-be’ were excited to receive their safety gear, uniform staples, and Republic swag, and truly felt a part of Team Charleston. We also gave them the opportunity to try out the technology of one of the new trucks that will be supporting the contract,” said Rachel M., Human Resources Manager. “The local team looks forward to success and celebration, especially as the kick-off timing is perfectly aligned with Waste & Recycling Workers Week, June 13-17.”
