Rebuilding Together Metro Denver

As part of the National Neighborhood Promise program funded by the Republic Services Charitable Foundation, we are pleased to partner with Rebuilding Together Metro Denver and Empowerment. Local Republic Services volunteers participated in a volunteer day to build Empowerment Gardens within the Greyhound Park redevelopment in the heart of Commerce City. The garden will be utilized by residents and staff of a 50-unit permanent supportive housing apartment building for people experiencing homelessness with a disabling condition or special needs.

The Empowerment Program is a Denver-based nonprofit that removes barriers to health, housing, education, and employment so individuals can live a healthier life.

“In the Republic Services Charitable Foundation, we have a partner who truly understands the urgent need to make it easier for people with disabilities to feel safe and secure in our society. With the Foundation’s help, along with our partners at Empowerment, we look forward to establishing Empowerment Gardens so Greyhound Park residents can feel the joy of experiencing a beautiful outdoor space at home.”
