Rachele K., Idaho Women of the Year Honoree

Republic congratulates Rachele K., Municipal Sales Manager, who was named a 2020 Women of the Year honoree by the Idaho Business Review. Only 50 recipients were selected from more than 220 nominees, based on criteria including leadership experience, professional accomplishments, mentorship and community service.

Rachele has been in her role at Republic for 15 years and has accomplished a lot, including being part of the team that wrote the 2008 stimulus grant for $5.5M to help us convert a diesel fleet to clean-burning CNG. “Today we have over 100 CNG trucks operating in Idaho, and our residents are breathing a little easier,” Rachele said.

Rachele also wrote a grant in 2019 seeking $1.6M in funding to help bring Republic’s first five all-electric trash and recycling trucks to Boise, ID. Trucks are scheduled to begin arriving in the coming months.

These grants and her passion for protecting the environment were a large part of why Rachele was selected as one of Idaho’s top business women in 2020. Her involvement in the community was also recognized.  Rachele is involved in a recycle-a-bicycle program, which recovers bikes at the Meridian Transfer Station, refurbishes them, and then distributes the bikes to low-income veterans, school kids, men and women living in shelters, and migrant workers living in local work-camps. The program has distributed over 1,200 bikes in the past three years!

She also serves on the boards of the Children’s Home Society and the Idaho Voices for Children. And, on top of all of this, Rachele and her family rescue and foster abandoned and abused dogs, mow their elderly neighbors’ lawns, bring them food and act as chauffeurs.

We are so proud of Rachele and her amazing achievements both professionally and personally.
