Republic Services was recently invited to participate in Community Helpers Month at Solomon Schechter Day School. For preschoolers, some of their heroes live in their own communities. They’re called Community Helpers, and they help make our lives easier every day by keeping communities safe, clean, and orderly. Thank you to Maintenance Supervisor Tony M. and Driver Ricky P. for being part of the Community Helpers Month event and teaching kids about their important job in keeping the world from turning into a giant trash heap!
“The students learned what it’s like to work for an environmental services company, specifically how the trucks function and what my team does to fix them in the shop. We also talked about recycling and composting and the different things the students can do to contribute to a cleaner waste process. Safety around trucks, both inside the shop and out in the streets, was another main focal point. Thanks to Ricky, the kids even got an up-close look at a Republic Services Front-Loader and the different functions and safety features that the truck is equipped with. Overall the students had a blast, were very engaged and asked great questions about my job and how the trucks work,” Tony said.
Way to go, Tony and Ricky!
