Driver Passes CDL Test with Dad by His Side

Congratulations to Terre Haute, Indiana Driver Trainee Ethan E., who passed his CDL test earlier this month on his first try!  Ethan recently participated in the Area Driver Trainee course and has been with Republic for about six months working towards his CDL.  Ethan is carrying on a family tradition in the trash industry. His father, Scot, is a long tenured driver with Republic Services, and is also a Behind-the-Wheel Instructor. Scot worked for his family’s hauling company since he was a kid and has been driving a trash truck since he was a teenager. Scot’s father, Ethan’s grandfather, later sold the business to Republic Services.

To make Ethan’s achievement extra special, Operations Manager Casey S. helped arrange for Ethan and his dad, Scot, to complete the CDL test together.  Scot got to be there in support of his son obtaining his CDL, in person.  The proud dad has been grinning ear to ear ever since!

“Trash is in the blood of this family so when Ethan applied for a job earlier this year we were excited for him to carry on the tradition,” said Ben P, General Manager. “I am looking forward to Ethan’s continued development as a driver with Republic as he aspires to become a Behind-the-Wheel Instructor and swing driver himself!”

We’re so happy for this father-son duo! Way to go!
