As part of the National Neighborhood Promise® program funded by the Republic Services Charitable Foundation, we are pleased to partner with The Society of St. Vincent de Paul. SVdP harnesses the power of community and partnerships to feed, clothe, house and heal individuals and families in the Phoenix community who have nowhere else to turn for help.
This year, SVdP received a $250,000 National Neighborhood Promise grant that replaced much-needed commercial soup vats and tilting skillets to allow the organization to continue to provide thousands of meals per day to those in need.
In addition to the grant, Republic Services employees from across the metro Phoenix area participated in a day of volunteerism. On this day, volunteers prepared meals, cleaned up the kitchen and served meals to the food insecure at SVdP’s main campus.
“It was an amazing day that highlighted Republic Services’ partnership with St. Vincent de Paul.It is heartwarming to see the good that St. Vincent de Paul provides toward battling food insecurity and providing for families in need, especially in our hometown.I also want to thank all the awesome volunteers from Republic that embody the vision of creating a more sustainable world.”
– Alberto Guardado, General Manager, Republic Services of South Phoenix
“We are so grateful for what Republic Services has done to support this community. The new Soup Vats and Tilt Skillets will continue to feed this community for at least 20 more years, ensuring that our most vulnerable population has healthy, consistent meals to help them become whole and productive citizens of our community. We could not do this without the support of community partners such as Republic Services.”
