Perseverance Pays off for Driver Travelle W.

Travelle W. started his career with Republic Services in early 2018, as a Landfill Laborer at the Lee County Landfill in Bishopville, South Carolina. A year later, Travelle expressed an interest in getting his commercial driver’s license and becoming a driver with the Company. He partnered with his Supervisor Danny R. and human resources to pursue his career aspirations. However, due to the lack of available training programs in the area, Travelle was unable to achieve this goal in 2019.

Fast forward to 2020, he again faced challenges finding a program due to COVID-19 restrictions. Despite these challenges, Travelle did not give up on his aspirations. In July 2020, with the help of HR Generalist Rodni B., Travelle enrolled in a five-week training program. He commuted almost an hour to attend evening classes (Monday-Friday) after work. His hard work and dedication paid off, and he received high praises from his training instructor who stated, “He’s a great young man and a true asset to your organization."

In September 2020, Travelle obtained his Class A - CDL License. By mid-November, he was hired as a roll-off driver at our Lee County Hauling Division.

The BU 101 Team is extremely proud of Travelle’s achievement and his perseverance to become a driver. We are so excited for his overall journey with Republic Services!

We’re thrilled to recognize Driver Travelle W. as a Republic Rockstar for his commitment to his career and our Company. Way to go, Travelle!
