Our team at the Northwest Tennessee Landfill recently reached an impressive milestone: 1,000 days without an employee incident.
“This achievement is a nice recognition for the work our frontline team and supervisors do day in and day out,” said General Manager Bobby S. “They focus on our standards and make sure every safety protocol is in place. It’s a testament to the work they put in every day.”
The team’s commitment shows up in their daily routines. Experienced leaders like Division Manager Dave B. and Ops Supervisor Brian J. conduct daily safety huddles and weekly meetings to help keep safety top of mind as conditions change throughout the year, from weather shifts to regional traffic and events.
Supervisors also conduct regular tours of the site and meet one-on-one with employees throughout the month, especially newer or higher-risk team members. Employees are encouraged to stop work when needed and look out for one another across the site.
“I always tell every supervisors that their number one goal with Republic Services is to reduce risk for frontline employees,” said Bobby S. “It’s our supervisors’ job to make sure everyone is as safe as possible and they take that job very seriously.”
To celebrate this accomplishment, the entire team gathered for a steak lunch.
Congratulations to the Northwest Tennessee Landfill team. Keep up the good work!
