MLK Day of Service Photos!

On January 16, Republic Services employees proudly celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Celebrations varied from parades with family and friends to community volunteer projects.

As a Company, this year’s celebrations took on a new meaning. Inspired by Dr. King’s powerful words on the importance of service, the Republic Services Charitable Foundation organized volunteer events and donated $100,000 to organizations in Chicago, Detroit, and Memphis, cities where Dr. King spoke during the civil rights movement.

“At Republic Services, we strive to make a positive impact where we live and work,” said Amanda H., President, Republic Services Charitable Foundation. “We are proud of our longstanding commitment to partner with organizations that provide needed resources to help strengthen their communities.”

MLK Day Volunteer Event Highlights

“Everybody can be great because everybody can serve.” – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
  • Chicago: Volunteers partnered with Rebuilding Together Metro Chicago to revitalize the Ada S. McKinley Aztlan Community Industries Center, which provides day programs to adults with developmental disabilities.
  • Detroit: Volunteers participated in three days of service with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services to provide services to more than 3,000 children.
  • Memphis: Volunteers partnered with Memphis City Beautiful to complete community beautification projects and litter clear ups throughout neighborhoods.
  • Las Vegas: Republic Services proudly participated in parades across the country. This year, our Las Vegas team came out in force with a fleet of vehicles and over 20 team members during Las Vegas’ 41st Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade.

Thank you, volunteers! None of this would have been possible without your hard work, dedication, and embodiment of our values.
