Read Across America Day, also known as Dr. Seuss Day, was held March 2, 2023. Customer Resource Center (CRC) leadership in Charlotte, North Carolina, participated in this special day at Winding Springs Elementary School to bring the joys of reading to students.
Winding Springs Elementary is a Title 1 school, meaning many of these students fall in a low socioeconomic status. “Aside from the day-to-day instruction, they rely on volunteers, community advocates, tutoring services, etc. to try and support these students the best we can”, said CRC Area Manager Demario N. Not only did Demario and CRC Supervisors read to the class, they gave each student a composition book and a goal to document and share their adventures with one another.
“Investing in a school like Winding Springs brings people so much joy! You can see and feel the positive culture we have created as soon as you enter the building. It’s a place to grow, learn, and feel like family. Their principal is wonderful and opens our doors graciously to any community members that are willing to help,” says Demario.
