Throughout March, we will be celebrating Women’s History Month, which honors the impact women have had in the world. As a part of our celebration, we are profiling a few of our many successful women employees.
This week, we highlight Sharon M., General Manager of our Baton Rouge operations.
Sharon started her career at Republic 32 years ago in dispatch and has worked her way through the organization, serving in various roles within safety, human resources and operations. Today, Sharon leads over 300 employees, many of whom are women. She started recruiting women drivers, techs and supervisors many years ago and currently has over 60 women drivers within her business units.
Sharon is passionate about our customers and her employees. She is committed to coaching, mentoring and growing her people. There is nothing she enjoys more than hiring and promoting from within.
“I have the strong belief that it is my responsibility as the GM to help people be successful,” says Sharon.

We invite everyone to wear PURPLE on Friday, March 6 to help celebrate women throughout the Company. Take photos with your coworkers and submit them to BlueNation@RepublicServices.com by Monday, March 9. We will share them later this month!
