At Republic Services, the work we do matters. Because it’s not just a job. It’s a chance to leave the world better than we found it. And it’s something we’re doing together—working as one team to make a difference every day for each other, our communities, and our planet. We are relentlessly focused on the safety of our people, with the shared goal of getting everyone home to their family and loved ones.
That’s why we shine a spotlight on important observances like Mental Health Awareness Month and the unveiling of our Asian American Pacific Islander Business Resource Group. While we focus on our mental well-being and bolster support for our business resource groups, let’s also reaffirm our commitment to safety at Republic Services.
This May, we invite you to join us in championing safety through Safe May—a promise to prioritize safety in all aspects of our work and everyday lives. Whether you’re in the office, in the field, or working remotely, Safe remains our top value and priority.
While we champion Safe May and practice safety in everything we do, starting on May 13, we are encouraging all Area/BU leaders to participate in ride-a-longs and site visits with our frontline employees as part of Safe Engagement Week. This initiative offers an invaluable opportunity to experience the challenges and successes of our frontline teams firsthand and reinforces our commitment to safety. By accompanying our drivers on their routes, our leaders will gain a deeper understanding of their daily experiences, the obstacles they face, and the measures they take to ensure the safety and satisfaction of our customers.
“As leaders, it’s important to connect with our employees in their work environment and show our commitment to their safety. Whether it’s on the road, in a recycling center, or an office, we must engage with our teams and stress the importance of making the right choices every day. By coming together and committing to this initiative, we can make this May the safest one yet for everyone at Republic,” said Bryan F., Director of Safety.
Together, let’s make Safe May a success by prioritizing safety every step of the way. Thank you for your dedication to creating a safe and healthy workplace for us all.
