In recognition of Maintenance Awareness Month in October, leaders visited our 2024 Company Top Shops to thank maintenance teams for keeping our operations running safely and efficiently, and to celebrate achievements. The visits highlighted the critical role technicians play in maintaining our fleet and equipment every day. Leaders presented each Company Top Shop with a $5,000 cash prize! Maintenance Shop employees also received a custom shirt and hat and a commemorative challenge coin.

Here’s a summary of the Company Top Shop celebrations that took place during Maintenance Awareness Month.
Fleet – BU240 Central Alabama
Senior Manager Fleet Operations Jim L. and Manager Fleet Operations Brandon C. celebrated with BU240 Central Alabama in Birmingham. Employees were recognized for their stellar performance and treated to a down-home BBQ lunch. “We toured the shop and saw how they exemplify the Republic Way. One Fleet principles were clear and it was easy to see that the team works well together and trusts each other to do the right thing,” said Brandon.
Heavy Equipment – BU433 San Diego Post Collection
Area Vice President Alberto G. joined local leaders and maintenance team employees representing three divisions at the Company Top Shop celebration in San Diego. The event featured a dinner and awards banquet. The team loved the recognition and word is, the technicians are still talking about it. Kudos to everyone for the outstanding effort!
Recycling – BU326 Eastern Twin Cities
Area Vice President Cal B., Senior Manager, Recycling Operations Rob T., Senior Manager, Infrastructure Design Ron S. from HQ traveled to Minnesota to celebrate with the local team. Employees on both shifts enjoyed a catered lunch from Famous Dave’s BBQ and leaders spent time with shop techs who are doing the work that powers our success. All-in-all, the event was a great success!
Environmental Solutions – BU604 ES Texas Coast, Robstown
Area leadership including Area President Vince S., Area Vice President Will L., Area Director Ops Support Tim R., and Area Accountant Mike P. celebrated with employees in Robstown, Texas. “Leaders encouraged the team to not lose momentum and work towards winning again next year!” said Jesse-Kay B., Manager Fleet Operations. The celebration included a BBQ lunch. Thank you team for keeping our trucks on the road!
Compactor Solutions Center – BU220 East Houston
South Area President Brady L. joined several local leaders and all employees to celebrate this accomplished team. Employees enjoyed a Tex-Mex lunch catered by Pappasito’s Cantina. Hats off to the whole team for your dedication!
