Halloween brings costumes, candy and plenty of activity after dark. Whether you’re celebrating at home, driving through the neighborhood or heading out with family, a few safe choices can help keep the night fun for everyone.
Make safety part of the plan:
- Be visible. Carry a flashlight or add reflective tape to costumes. Stay in the streetlights as much as possible and make sure vehicles can see you.
- Avoid trip hazards. Make sure masks do not block vision and clothing or shoes do not create a trip hazard.
- Stay alert near traffic. Use sidewalks and crosswalks, look both ways and avoid distractions while walking.
- Drive with extra care. Slow down, eliminate distractions and watch for children who may enter the street unexpectedly.
- Keep paths clear. Remove cords, decorations and other tripping hazards from walkways and provide good lighting.
A little preparation and extra attention can help protect employees, families and neighbors. Plan ahead, stay alert and help everyone enjoy a safe Halloween.
