Huntington Beach Gives Back to Community at Family Festival

Republic Services of Huntington Beach partnered with Bracken’s Kitchen and the Oakview Family Resource Center to celebrate Day of the Child, also known as Día del Niño, at the Oakview playground. Not only did the event feature a Touch-a-Truck for kids, families also enjoyed music, dancing, and a great lunch from Bracken’s Kitchen. (Bracken’s Kitchen, a nonprofit committed to serving nutritious meals to neighbors in need, was a 2022 recipient of a National Neighborhood Promise grant funded by Republic Services Charitable Foundation.)

“What a wonderful day spending time with our neighborhood families! Thanks to all the volunteers who came out to make this a special day!” said General Manager Dan C.

Day of the Child is a nationally known program that promotes the value and healthy habit of reading among all children, regardless of their socioeconomic status and cultural background. The holiday comes from Mexico and is a celebration of children and childhood.
