Your health and safety remain our Company’s top priority during the current coronavirus (COVID-19) situation. Many of you have been asking about the need to wear face masks at work or while out in public.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently revised their position on face masks, and now recommends that people wear cloth or fabric face masks when in public. While it is important to note that the high-end surgical masks are reserved for healthcare workers, the CDC believes that wearing a cloth mask still will provide a level of protection and help stop the virus from passing from one person to another. Many people infected with COVID-19 do not show or feel any symptoms, so wearing a cloth mask will help prevent the spread of the virus from people who are unknowingly infected.
Watch the video below from the CDC to find out how to make your own cloth mask with just a bandana or handkerchief and a couple of hair ties or rubber bands: https://youtu.be/tPx1yqvJgf4
To continue to support our employees and help further protect our workforce during this uncertain time, we will be providing masks for field employees to use on a voluntary basis (unless mandated by the state or local government) to help further reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19.
Remember, the best way to protect yourself, your family and your coworkers is to wash your hands frequently with soap and water, maintain at least six-feet of distance between yourself and anyone outside your household, and stay home if you are sick.
