In this week’s feature for Maintenance Awareness Month, we’re looking at how the Environmental Solutions team uses advanced Asset Management Systems to effectively manage their fleet’s lifecycle and compliance. The team utilizes Fleetio and Samsara, two programs that seamlessly integrate with each other to stay on top of managing their large fleet of powered vehicles, trailers and heavy equipment.
Fleetio maintains detailed records of all 8,024 assets in service and automates preventative maintenance scheduling based on asset type and status, while linking required inspection documents to ensure mechanics use the correct forms. It manages parts inventory with re-order points and custom reports to maintain stock levels. The system’s work orders allow for tracking of all maintenance costs, include parts and labor detail as well as the ability to attach supporting documents.
The integration with Samsara allows real-time tracking of engine miles and hours for all assets. Custom alerts help track violations and ensure compliance with inspection and logging requirements. Samsara also pulls Driver Vehicle Inspection Report defects directly into the Fleetio system, ensuring that these issues are resolved through work orders, with all completed work tracked and documented.
By applying these advanced asset management systems, the Environmental Solutions maintenance team has not only improved the efficiency and reliability of their fleet but has also ensured a higher level of safety and compliance for their drivers.
