Honoring Juneteenth


On June 19, we proudly celebrate Juneteenth, commemorating the announcement of the end of slavery in the United States. Although it was only proclaimed a national holiday in 2021, Juneteenth is an important date representing freedom dating back to 1865.

This holiday provides an opportunity for all of us at Republic Services to honor, heal, hope, and grow. Celebrating observances like Juneteenth embodies our unwavering commitment to being Human-Centered and the full inclusivity of all people, groups, and identities in our workplace and in our communities.

In recognition of Juneteenth, the Black Employee Network held a virtual event this month to discuss the importance of the holiday and what it means to a few of our members. Watch the video below:
