June 19 is Juneteenth, a day that marks the end of slavery in the United States. Also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when the last enslaved people in Galveston, Texas finally learned they were free—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It’s a day of reflection, resilience, and hope.
