This Hispanic Heritage Month, we are highlighting Hispanic and Latino leaders who share our value of being Environmentally Responsible. Learn how they are taking action to improve our environment.
This week, we feature Andrea Delgado, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Chief of Staff for Natural Resources and Environment.
Andrea Delgado has dedicated 16 years to amplifying the voices of underrepresented communities in federal policy. Her work, particularly during her tenure as Government Affairs Director with the United Farm Workers Foundation, has improved living and working conditions across the country. Under the USDA, Andrea has played a pivotal role in advancing legislation to help agricultural workers and protect the public from toxic exposure to pesticides and other chemicals.
Her leadership was also crucial in leading the efforts to advance Tribal co-stewardship of forests and grasslands. Her compassion and dedication have fueled her efforts to find common ground and secure bipartisan support on matters ranging from agriculture to the environment. Leading the Farm Workforce Modernization Act was one of her most notable pieces of work. This bipartisan bill updated and helped create a path to legalization for undocumented farm worker families, reformed the visa program, and improved labor and living conditions.
