The season of giving is upon us. As we head into the holidays, it’s important to remember our policies about gifts and cash tips. Since we go above and beyond to exceed our customers’ expectations, we understand customers may want to give gifts and tips to you for your service.
The following are highlights from our policies to help you make the right choice in these situations:
- Only drivers and helpers may accept tips ($100 or less) from customers in the form of cash, gift cards, or gift certificates during the holidays.
- Scale house attendees and other employees may not accept tips at any time.
- Employees may accept non-cash gifts up to $100 in value from a vendor or customer, unless the non-cash gift is an attempt (real or perceived) to inappropriately influence business decisions.
- Employees may never give gift cards or cash to customers.
If you need help making the right choice, review our Business Code of Ethics and Conduct, reach out to your leader, another manager, HR, the Legal department, or the Ethics & Compliance team.
We love to hear about employees who made the right choice when faced with an ethical dilemma, you can email your story to EthicsandCompliance@republicservices.com and it may be featured in a future communication.
