As we start the new year, we reflect on our top value of Safe. Most people think “safe” only means things like driving carefully or operating machines the right way. But being safe is also about protecting confidential information, including the personal information of our employees and customers.
This week is International Data Privacy Week, and it’s a good time to remember how important it is to handle information safely, in the right way.
How You Can Protect Confidential Information:
- Know the Policies: Make sure you understand our rules about keeping employee and customer information safe. You can find these rules in our Code of Business Ethics and Conduct or on Inside Republic Services SharePoint. You can also ask your HR partner or manager for a copy.
- Only Use it in Approved Ways: Only use confidential information when you really need it for your job and keep it stored the way our policies explain.
- Ask Questions: If you ever feel unsure about how to handle information, reach out to the Data Privacy Compliance team at privacy@republicservices.com.
