This month we are focusing on Conflicts of Interest. We are trusted to always act in the Company’s best interest and avoid real or perceived conflicts of interest.
What it Means
A conflict of interest happens when an employee’s interests and relationships outside of work conflict or appear to conflict with the interests of Republic.
We count on our employees to do the right thing and to disclose any real or potential conflicts of interest promptly and appropriately. In most conflict of interest scenarios, we can work with employees to put guardrails in place to alleviate any risks to the Company, but they must first be disclosed to the Ethics & Compliance team so we can work together for the right outcome.
Ask yourself these questions if you’re unsure whether a situation may be a conflict of interest:
- Do my outside interests influence, or appear to influence, my ability to make sound business decisions?
- Could my participation in this activity interfere with my ability to do my job?
- Will I or a relative benefit personally from my involvement in this situation?
- Is the situation causing me to put my own interests ahead of Republic’s interest?
