Earlier this month, we celebrated the launch of our EV collection fleet in the City of Louisville, Colorado!
Leaders from Republic’s Denver market, the Northwest and new Mountain West areas, and HQ joined city councilmembers and staffers for the event outside Louisville City Hall. The event was capped off with a new Republic EV – with Louisville Mayor Chris Leh in the passenger seat – breaking through a ribbon stretched across Main Street to mark the fleet’s debut.
Louisville made history this summer as the first city in the nation to adopt an electric collection fleet. Republic Services EVs began operating recycling, organics and waste collection routes in the city on October 1.
The zero-emissions fleet serving Louisville includes three McNeilus Volterra ZSLs and a Peterbilt 520EV rear-loader for alley service. The McNeilus Volterra was developed with insights from Republic Services and is equipped with the latest safety technology.
“Republic Services is the ideal partner for this step forward in sustainability,” said Mayor Leh. “We’re really proud to be the first city in America to adopt a fully electric residential recycling and waste collection fleet.”
