Ethics Week 2025: Celebrating Excellence – Q&A with Ethics Champion Tim R.

On day three of Ethics Week, we’re highlighting our top value of Safe: We protect the livelihoods of our colleagues and communities.

We spoke with our Ethics Champion Tim R., Director of Maintenance Operations, about how he lives our value of Safe.

Q: Tell us about your role and responsibilities.

I have direct responsibility over Maintenance, focusing on Fleet, Heavy Equipment, Landfills & Transfer Stations, Recycling Centers, Polymer Centers, Environmental Solutions, Compactors, and Warranty Administration.

Q: How do you live our value of Safe in your role?

In my role, I’m constantly thinking of Safety. I think of how I can promote a Safe Culture in both my professional and personal lives by sharing the importance of safety with my team and my family.

Q: What is your top priority each day?

My top priority each day is to do my part to ensure both myself and my team make it home every day to their families.

Q: What are some actions you’ve taken or learnings so far from being an Ethics Champion?

I speak with my team about ethics and how being ethical affects leadership from a servitude standpoint by promoting direct dialogue about being comfortable speaking up.  In my time as a Champion, I’ve have reflected on the concept of being quick to listen and slow to speak. This allows me to actively listen and truly hear what is being said, which helps enhance trust and transparency.
