Enjoy Earth Day from the Comforts of Home

If you love the outdoors, Earth Day is a great time to remember why it’s important to take care of the planet in the first place: so that we can continue to enjoy our parks, forests, mountains and beaches for generations to come!

With the current coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, it’s currently not possible to visit many of our favorite outdoor places. But we can still celebrate Earth Day while sheltering in place! Especially now when we all need a little positivity, let’s commit to spreading a little Earth Day cheer with our loved ones and neighbors!

Print the attached coloring pages and color them in with your family! This is a great activity for people of all ages. Then, together, we can spread Earth Day cheer by posting pictures in our homes, on our front doors where neighbors and passersby can see them, or even take a selfie and post to social media or text your friends.

Send us a photo of your completed Earth Day pictures – or of you and your family coloring in the pictures – and we may share them on Republic’s social media channels and right here on Blue Nation Online. Be creative with your photos and have fun!

Please email your photos by Tuesday, April 21, so that we can share them on Earth Day, April 22. You can submit photos to BlueNation@RepublicServices.com.

Want to share your thoughts with Republic’s social fans and followers? Share your Earth Day art  on your social media accounts using the hashtags #EarthDayEveryDay and #CommittedToServe.

Looking for other fun activities to do with your family on Earth Day? Try the kid-friendly activities developed for our Recycling Simplified Recycling Curriculum. It’s a great way to learn a few recycling basics while filling gaps of time. Lessons are separated by grade level – preK through 12. Each one has several activities, including reading, writing and games. There are even virtual field trips for kids to virtually explore recycling centers and landfills. Get started here.
