Employees recently made a big difference in their community by supplying equipment and volunteering time at the Operation Clean Sweep event, sponsored by Port Tenants Association and the San Diego Working Waterfront that involves five cities with San Diego bayfront areas.
“This year was the first time Republic Services got involved and the municipal team organized containers across 11 sites and five cities in the county along the port to clean up our parks and waterways after the summer,” said Sarah W., Sustainability Advisor. “Republic also organized a team of 25 people and we were assigned to a private site on protected land and we picked up .43 tons just our team alone.”
The cities involved are Coronado, Chula Vista, Imperial Beach, National City, and San Diego.
The event concluded with a “Treasure Junk Hunt Celebration” with food, music and kids activities.
