Emergency Response Team Helps Customer with Training Program

The Republic Services Emergency Response team recently delivered a full day of Incident Command System (ICS) and Qualified Individual (QI) training for their spill management team in Long Island, NY. Our Emergency Response Team handles oil spill removal for one of the largest investor-owned energy companies in the U.S. The full day of training is an important part of complying with the Oil Pollution Act of 1990.

The Emergency Response team worked with the customer to design a functional exercise that focused on meeting the 15 Prep Components of the National Preparedness for Response Exercise Program. The exercise involved a full day of activities with the client’s Spill Management Team utilizing their Facility Response Plan and ICS training to produce a written Incident Action Plan.

“This training exercise is essential to ensure that response teams are well-prepared for future events. We had over 100 participants between our Emergency Response team and the customer, making it a successful exercise. Special thanks to Steve B., Deborah W., John H., Jennifer J., Chris E., Alex S., Stephen K, Demir A., Carlie E. and Michael M. for improving our environment.” — Tara B., Environmental Compliance Manager
