Republic Services was called to support emergency response efforts in West Haven, CT, after a rollover crash caused thousands of gallons of home heating oil to enter the West River through storm drains.
Our Environmental Solutions crews mobilized quickly alongside DEEP’s Emergency Response Unit, local fire departments, and other partners to help contain and recover the spill. Working through challenging nighttime and tidal conditions, our teams deployed specialized boats, containment equipment, and vacuum trucks to remove oil from the water and protect surrounding wildlife and habitat.
