Congratulations to Large Container Driver Robert M. and Small Container Jason H. who are both celebrating a milestone 30-year service anniversary this year. They both started their careers as drivers with Republic Services in 1993. Looking back at their three decades in the industry, they have seen a lot of changes over the years. They both say that automation is the biggest change. “There’s a lot less manual labor,” Robert says.
They also agree that the best part of their job is the open road, no walls. “I enjoy the freedom – my truck is my office,” Jason says. When asked what his advice is for drivers just starting out, Jason says, “Do your job right the first time or you create more work for someone else, like dispatch, sales, customers.”
Both Robert and Jason make safety their No. 1 priority every day. Their best tip for staying safe on the road is to stay alert and pay attention, don’t cut corners.
