Republic Services teams from across the Dallas area partnered with the Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity (HFH) for a community revitalization project. Our volunteers completed work that included replacing basketball goals and backboards, painting utility boxes, planting hundreds of flowers, replacing several shrubs and plants and putting down mulch.
Local officials including Dallas Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Omar Narvaez, as well as the Dallas Park District leaders joined the event as well. They took the opportunity to share a few words at the opening of the day.
In 2022, the Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity received a National Neighborhood Promise® grant. During the past year, local Republic teams partnered with HFH on multiple projects including the park cleanup and a new home construction of the Women Build 2022 home – moving from a slab of concrete to the construction all the walls of the home. Additional project details, to be completed later this year, include critical repairs to existing homes in the West Dallas area.
“What a great NNP event! Our volunteers included team members from operations, maintenance, finance, sales and leaders from Dallas to Houston. This was a great day to engage and support our community. We even had some kids that live close to Benito Juarez Park share their excitement, exclaiming ‘You’re all doing this for us!?’, with big smiles!”
-Amy A., General Manager, Plano
“Through our ongoing partnership with Republic Services, we have successfully completed projects that provide essential improvements for residents in the communities where we are also building affordable homes. This park cleanup is a great example of organizations working together to help keep our neighborhoods safe and clean.”
