Customer Praises Drivers for Being “Part of Fabric That Makes Up Our Neighborhood”

Miguel V. (Mr. Brown), Manuel Q. (Mr. Green) and Gustavo L. (Mr. Blue)

Buttonwood Street in Fountain Valley, CA, is a better place because of Drivers Miguel V., Manuel Q. and Gustavo L. Recently, a customer took the time to write a letter praising these drivers for their “superior customer service” and sharing a touching story about the kindness they have shown to the children in the neighborhood. Here’s an excerpt from the letter:

“This note was inspired by the gentlemen that have been showing up these last two years and created a remarkable bond with the son of our Goddaughter in addition to several other young children and their families in our neighborhood.

Our little Nicky, who refers to these gentlemen as Mr. Green, Mr. Blue, and Mr. Brown, in reference to the receptacle they empty each week, anxiously starts asking about their arrival time the day before their scheduled arrival. When Mr. Green, Mr. Blue and Mr. Brown do arrive, whether it is rain or sunny weather, little Nicky waves and gets a wave back; sometimes gets a gentle fist bump and/or has a short conversation; and then, gets to witness the talent of the gentlemen as they pick up the receptacles to empty them into their truck.

I must note that Nicky is so enamored by these gentlemen that he searches for them hours before their arrival, follows them for several blocks after they have arrived at our house and tries to miss his nap so he can see them again when they return on the opposite side of the street.

These three men, and their substitutes, are more than Republic employees to us. They have become part of fabric that makes up our neighborhood. When one of them is ill or takes holiday, little Nicky asks if they will be returning.

In your quest to find examples of “Superior customer service,” I am one voice stating that you can find it in the employees I am continually impressed on how well these gentlemen operate their equipment with all the challenges I have witnessed them face. As soon as yesterday, as Mr. Brown made his way down our street during a sudden increase in rain intensity, he could be seen taking extra time to lift all three containers away from the curb at each home to reduce the water that was backing up so our neighborhood could access the street side of our vehicles without having to walk through four inches of water.

I know that Buttonwood St is not the only place Mr. Green, Mr. Blue and Mr. Brown display their talent and I am sure, their friendly demeanor. As to the future, Nicky, like all that have come before him, will grow up and move to other adventures. But for now, if Nicky is here on Wednesdays, and not napping, you will find him outside watching and following these gentlemen down Buttonwood Street.”
