Continuous Learning Drives Benjamin’s Success as Fleet Maintenance Supervisor

Benjamin with Ralph S., Vice President, Fleet Management, and Misty R., Director of the Technical Institute.

Benjamin G. started his career with Republic Services in 2006, as a temporary Residential Helper in Arlington, TX. Within a year, he transitioned into a full-time role on the operations side, where he immersed himself in learning every aspect of the maintenance department.

When the Republic Services Technical Institute opened in 2021, Benjamin saw an opportunity to grow and challenged himself by applying for the Technician Apprenticeship Program, even though he had never worked on a truck before. With a clear goal of becoming a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor, Benjamin knew the hands-on training and knowledge he would gain through the program would be key to achieving his ambition.

“To succeed in the program, you have to want to learn,” says Benjamin.

Today, Benjamin serves as a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor in Arlington, TX. Over the past few years, he has leveraged his extensive experience in clerical operations and parts management to support the MPower team, helping prepare business units across Texas for rollout.

While Benjamin has his sights set on becoming a Maintenance Manager, he is taking time to appreciate his current role and continues to lead with a commitment to learning and growth.
