We hope you put our value of being Environmentally Responsible into action on Earth Day and every day! We asked employees to share their actions to protect our environment for a chance to win sustainable swag! Congratulations to our 10 lucky winners:
Jon H., Operations Clerk I, Bellevue, WA
“I am fortunate to be able to commute to work by bike. It’s a great way to get some fresh air and I can always find a parking spot.”
Wayburn H., Talent Acquisition Partner, Ft. Worth, TX
“Since joining Republic, I’ve become 10 times more environmentally responsible by reading labels to identify recyclable items and recycling accordingly. I have reusable coffee cups and water bottles that I use daily.”
Charity P., Senior Technical Service Advisor, Winter Springs, FL
“I organize my garbage every week. I make sure plastic, glass and cardboard are always recycled. I drop any hazardous waste materials that cannot be put in the regular trash to HHW sites so they do not end up in the landfill.”
Patricia E., Sustainability Advisor, Toronto, Ontario
“I use reusable items such as metal straws and cutlery if I am out. I use as little energy as possible in my home to conserve energy. I commute or walk instead of driving, which is also healthier for my well-being. I air dry my clothes and hair in the summer instead of using the dryers. I try to repurpose my clothing or give it away to friends and family, and try to not shop too much, only for necessary items. I volunteer in environmental events such as the Eco Fair in Toronto to bring more awareness to others on all things sustainability.”
Fred G., Sales Manager, Wayne, MI
“Sustainability is a mindset. I make buying decisions based on packaging, paper bags over plastic, if I don’t need a bag for small items that I can carry I’ll decline the bag.”
Nicole S., Area Manager Human Resources, Marietta, GA
“As an HR Manager, I put our value of Environmentally Responsible into action by integrating sustainability into our policies, culture, and daily practices. I promote digital workflows, flexible work options, and eco-conscious training to reduce our environmental impact. I also engage employees through awareness campaigns, recognition programs, and green team initiatives that foster a culture of sustainability.”
Thomas H., Environmental Specialist, Ontario, CA
“I sort my trash into the appropriate bins as well as water my lawn once a week to preserve water. I use reusable water cups instead of plastic water bottles.”
Roxane T., A/R Resolution Specialist, Farmington, MN
“Picking up trash along the walking trail every day when I take my dogs for a walk.”
Paul N., Territory Sales Manager, Anchorage, AK
“I collect spent Li-Ion battery cells from my neighbors, compliantly package and transport them to the Hazardous Waste Collection Facility that Republic operates for the Municipality of Anchorage. This keeps them out of the trash cans or recycle bins.”
Colleen T., Maintenance Shop Clerk, Guelph, Ontario
“I love gardening, and I started using food scraps and yard waste to make my own compost. I try to purchase things with recyclable or reusable packaging when possible. I pick up garbage when I am out walking and usually get home with my pockets full. And I often have used kleenex in my pockets, lol, because I never throw garbage on the ground!”
