Charitable Spotlight: Rebuilding Together

Our philanthropic partner, Rebuilding Together, is a leading national non-profit organization that provides critical home repairs to individuals in need while also revitalizing our communities nationwide.

The organization started with the simple act of neighbors helping neighbors in 1973 and has a long-standing history serving vulnerable communities across the country. Today, Rebuilding Together has grown into a premier nonprofit community revitalization organization that believes in safe homes and communities for everyone. Together, with national network of 125 affiliates, Rebuilding Together completes approximately 10,000 rebuild projects each year.

As part of the National Neighborhood Promise® program funded by the Republic Service Charitable Foundation, we are pleased to partner with Rebuilding Together affiliates to support mission critical work in markets where we live and work.

Last year, General Manager Casey P., from Minneapolis, MN and team partnered with Rebuilding Together Twin Cities to renovate a local nonprofit organization’s facility. Together they supported, Every Third Saturday, an organization that serves homeless veterans with critical community resources. The teams renovated the organization’s office space by providing new flooring and painting the interior rooms.  They also built a community garden for the surrounding neighborhood to enjoy. Republic is pleased to support the great work of both organizations and looks forward to our continued partnership.

“Neighborhood revitalization is one of the most urgent needs facing our communities today,” said Caroline Blakely, President and CEO of Rebuilding Together. “We are proud to partner with Republic Services. With their support, we have exponentially increased our capacity to serve our neighbors in need.”

This spring, through our Committed to Serve initiative, the Republic Services Charitable Foundation granted Rebuilding Together $1 million to support the critical needs of locally owned small businesses across the country. Together, we will provide much needed support to local business owners who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
