Charitable Spotlight: NeighborWorks America – Working Together for Strong Communities®

Our charitable partner NeighborWorks America is a congressionally chartered nonprofit organization that supports community development in the United States and Puerto Rico. They provide grants and technical assistance to more than 240 community development organizations. By building skills, supplementing the funding, and amplifying the reach of grassroots organizations, they can leverage additional resources to achieve their mission. For over 40 years, they have focused on creating opportunities for people to live in affordable homes, improve their lives and strengthen their communities.

This past year, through our National Neighborhood Promise program, Republic was fortunate to partner with several of the NeighborWorks affiliate organizations to rebuild and revitalize the neighborhoods where we live and work. Outside of Boston, in Chelsea, MA, led by General Manager, Kurt L., we partnered with the Neighborhood Developers affiliate organization to revitalize Costa Park in the Shirley Ave. neighborhood.  Kurt along with dozens of employee volunteers gave their time, expertise and manpower to rebuild the park for our neighbors.  This local partnership with Neighborhood Developers really took off – check out their 2019 impact report featuring Kurt and his team and this amazing project. Nice job, Boston team.

Through our Committed to Serve initiative, the Foundation granted $1 million to NeighborWorks America for support of their local affiliates projects that will focus on small businesses in the neighborhoods we serve. Our local teams alongside their affiliate organization partners will have the opportunity to impact small business as they return to work and thrive in the post COVID-19 times.
