Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month: Employee Spotlight

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, we recognize our Hispanic employees and their hard work and dedication to our Company. As part of this celebration, we are spotlighting one of Republic’s leaders, Felipe G., Vice President of Sales.

Felipe has been with Republic for 10 years, starting his career with the Company in the Los Angeles Area, followed by the Southeast Area and currently at HQ.

When asked what Felipe enjoys most about his job, he says, “That you can influence a person’s day, week, month, year or even their life by the way you treat them in the next few seconds or the next few words you say to them. And when you work, travel and spend time with your coworkers almost every day, you become close to them and form a bond. You become family.”

Hispanic Heritage Month is important to Felipe and his family. To Felipe, it means community. “It’s an important part of Hispanic culture, and it comes with having pride, humility, love and respect,” he says.

Another celebration that is particularly meaningful to Felipe is The Day of the Dead (el dia de los Muertos). According to Felipe, “Growing up in Los Angeles, I loved going to Olvera Street. It’s a great place to learn about Hispanic culture. Just thinking about it, I can hear the people and the music. And the street tacos are phenomenal!”

Felipe also shared that he has so much gratitude for working at Republic Services. In these uncertain times, the Company genuinely cares about the well-being of our employees, both personally and professionally. He encourages all of us to continue to work together and support each other to get through the challenges we face every day.
